Get Set Go Narrative Assessment

Learner: Kiko              Learning Coach: T Morgan                Date: 27th October 2016
Learning Area: iExperience - Physical Education/Health
Learning Observed
Today we had Get Set Go, a sports programme, come to our school. Coach Cameron taught us a whole lot of new games like walk the plank - where we had to walk along the lines on the court and there were two pirates with noodle swords who would tag us, and red light-green light- where different colours meant we had to do different things to try and make our way to the end of the court. It was so much fun!
Evidence of learning
Get Set Go Movie

We are learning to move and balance in all different ways. Watch me play red light-green light!
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
I am developing my Capabilities in Physical Education. I was able remember and tell Coach Cameron what the 3 rules were 1) when Coach Cameron is talking, we are listening, 2) when the whistle blows we freeze, and 3) we must have fun! (Managing Self). I took turns at being the “police officer” that checked for people who were moving when they should be frozen, offering my second turn to someone who hadn’t already had a turn (Relating to Others). I had fun learning all the games Coach Cameron taught us and especially playing them (Participating and Contributing).
Next Learning Steps
  • Always have my hat at school to wear for iBreaks and Get Set Go.
  • Play the game with your peers
  • Think of one way we could change this game (maybe one colour we could add with an action).

Writing Narrative Assessment

Learner: Kiko                Learning Coach: Talia Morgan        Date: 19th August 2016
Learning Area: iDevelop - Writing
Learning Observed
Kiko was given the topic of her ‘family’ and was asked to tell the LC anything and everything about her family, who was in it and whatever they wanted to tell us about their family because they are the ones who know their families, the LC doesn’t. Kiko wrote a story about her family, telling us about what her mum and dad do for her.
Evidence of learning

Kiko has written a fantastic story about her family. I like the way she has tried to sound out the tricky words!
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Kiko is developing her Capabilities in writing. She was able to independently write her own story (Managing Self). Kiko wrote a story about her family, telling her reader all about what her family do for her, including the who and what (Using Language, Symbols and Text). Kiko tried to sound out difficult and unfamiliar words on her own and recorded the sounds in the order she could hear them in and wrote most high frequency words correctly (Thinking).
Next Learning Steps
  • Use capital letters and full stops correctly.
  • Continue to sound out and record tricky words.
  • Share learning with home.

Narrative Assessment - Developmental - 23 February 2016

Learner:  Kiko             Learning Coach: Megan Croll               Date: 23 February 2016
Learning Area:  Developmental
Learning Observed
Today during our ‘Developmental’ session, Kiko and Jessica were working together to construct a building with the Duplo blocks.  As the building took shape, they talked about what they wanted to put where, as well as how they wanted the building to look.  There was discussion about how to group the colours for the curved edged and how many blocks to put on the top.
Evidence of learning

IMG_4972.JPG

Kiko and Jessica were very pleased with the finished result of their building.
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Kiko collaborated with a partner to design and create this building.  She demonstrated capability when problems arose, e.g. blocks didn’t fit properly or her chosen block had already been used.  Kiko was ‘Managing Self’ to work independently with a partner to complete an activity and pack away the materials when she had finished.
Next Learning Steps
  • Talk about, and draw a plan before beginning to build with blocks
  • Consider using colour patterns with the blocks to make links with maths
  • Use blocks to build with peers outside of her normal friendship group

Narrative Assessment 22 Feb 2016

Learner: Kiko              Learning Coach: Talia Morgan        Date: 22 Feb 2016
Learning Area: Literacy - Writing
Learning Observed
Today we looked at how our letter of the week; ‘B’/’b’ are formed. We drew a line inside the letters provided to see what direction we take the pen first to form the ‘B’/’b’. Then we used the crayons to draw a B/b letter on our paper, before finally colouring in our letters. Kiko completed the three stages for both capital B and lower-case b. Kiko was engaged and enthusiastic about this writing activity.
Evidence of learning
Kiko was able to form a capital ‘B’ and lower-case ‘b’ in three different ways. I wonder if Kiko can use these letters in her writing this week?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Kiko is developing his Capabilities in Writing. She was able to work by herself to form the letters in three different ways, without the learning coach (Managing Self). Kiko is starting to form her letters correctly and use the letter sounds she can hear (Using Language, Symbols and Text). She was able to Think of the three steps and complete them, as well as remind others (Relating to others).
Next Learning Steps
  • To use either capital ‘B’, lower-case ‘b’, or both in his writing this week.
  • Continue to practice letter formation.
  • Continue to teach using the word card to find words and sounds to record for a story.
  • Share learning with home.
